Voyage Voyage in D.C.

In 1997 the Mars Pathfinder lander touched down here on this ancient Martian flood plain called Ares Vallis. Its robotic rover Sojourner studied the rocky surface. Many more robotic spacecraft will journey to Mars to study it, some to search for signs of life. One day, will humans follow?

Continue the Voyage: Right now you can go to the surface of Mars. Visit the Spirit rover on Gusev Crater and the Opportunity rover on Meridiani Planum. Each of these robot geologists have explored between 4 and 6 miles (7 and 9 Km) of martian terrain since landing in January 2003. Click here.
